Welcome Spring with your child at any of these amazing nature programs being offered in the Greater Boston area. You can learn how maple syrup is made at any of three events on Saturday, March 7. From 8:45 am to 1 pm, Drumlin Farm sponsors a Sap to Syrup Farmers Breakfast (massaudubon.org). From 10 am to noon, the Somerville Community Growing Center conducts a Maple Syrup Boil Down (the growingcenter.org). From 1-4 pm, the Boston Nature Center sponsors a Maple Sugaring Program (massaudubon.org). On March 28, from 10 am to 4 pm, is Drumlin Farm’s Woolapalooza event that includes sheep shearing, a baby sheep petting zoo and wool spinning demonstrations (massaudubon.org). If you miss that, you cannot miss the annual Sheep Shearing Festival at Gore Place in Waltham on Saturday, April 25 from 10 am to 5 pm, which has sheep shearing, sheep dog herding contests, a craft fair, food, music and dance (https://goreplace.org/about/news/33rd-annual-sheepshearing). On Saturday, April 25, you can also volunteer at an Earth Day clean-up, such as the annual Charles River Clean Up from 9 am to noon (www.crwa.org/charles-river-cleanup); or the Statewide Volunteer Day at the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuaries from 9 am to noon (massaudubon.org).
